Halloween Head
I’m back again with an easy, fun, DIY that can mostly be create out of things around your home!
My budget is tight this year, so I’m trying to get creative with ways I can upcycle things to make something new for Halloween without breaking the bank.
If you have cereal boxes or other thin cardboard, tissue paper, glue and tape you can create your very own piñata for decor or for your next Halloween bash!
No Summerween would feel quite Ike Summerween without a summer treat with a Halloween twist!
Which is why I decided to whip up pumpkin spice s’mores!
This past spring, I decided to put lots of beautiful planted flowers in old paint cans I recycled and decorated from my garage, which then of course inspired me to create a wonderland land of hand painted Halloween planters for the fall.
I decided to get started painting my goulish containers now so that I will have an abundance of pots for mums when the time comes to plant them ( because it is too darn hot to plant them in this Oklahoma summer heat).
The great thing about upcycling planters from containers is that you could also use smaller containers for indoor plants or herbs to decorate with and display now! I recommend using tin cans, paint cans, yogurt containers, etc.

I am all about inexpensive decor this season. Plus, decorations for the outside get more of a chance to be displayed this season in my life with two toddlers and things that are not fragile get even more of a chance to make the Halloween decor cut! These plastic stacking pumpkins I found at Five Below for $5.55 had to go home with me because I wanted to paint them and give them a whimsical look on my front porch.

A story in a bag activity is great for young kids to develop early literacy skills. It is also a great way to connect with your kiddo and have some Halloween fun by adding a “spooky story” twist.
You can do this with toys and everyday items in your house and simply “ping-pong” a tale back-and-forth with your child and create a fun spooky tale together for as long as they are interested. Some kids, may just want to explore the objects themselves and play- and that’s OK too! There’s no set rules!

I am already working on getting my kids into the Halloween spirit by creating spooky activities they can join in on!
Our latest adventure is creating our very home handmade finger painted monster shirts. This is a great activity for toddlers or older kids as well. I had to add some final touches to each monster tee, but older kids could have a blast adding their own monster face, however my 1-year-old and 2-year-old are not quite ready to paint with such detail.
I love this activity too, because now my boys have a little keepsake from their toddler years that we could dress a stuffed animal in or make small pillow from once they grow out of it. It’s kinda like a never ended craft in that regard…

My youngest turned one on September 8! It may be 53 days away from Halloween, but that didn’t stop us from creating a spooky one birthday!
I created my own banner and cake topper and did a little backyard “pumpkin pie” smash photo shoot as well. I hope these early memories will inspire my baby bat to love Halloween like his momma.
