Stranger Things Inspired Cupcakes

Get ready to have your world turned UPSIDE DOWN this week as we are treated with a third season of Stranger Things!

I cannot think of a better way to celebrate 4th of Boo-ly than by joining our favorite adolescents from Hawkins Indiana solve the mysteries that abound in their small, sleepy, and positively 80’s town.

In honor of season three,  I decided to create a sweet treat for the occasion and YOU can make these Stranger Things inspired cupcakes for your watch party or summer cookout (Eleven would approve).

Summerween Jack-o-Melon

Next week will officially mark the first day of summer –  but for Halloweenheads, we celebrate “Summerween”, a season where we reflect back on and look forward to the spookiest season.  Stores are already sprinkling in fall products and decor, so it truly is the perfect time to prepare for Halloween to give yourself a break from the sweltering summer heat.

Here in Oklahoma we’ve had quite an unusual summer. I would normally find myself complaining and dreading mowing the lawn in our 100 degree plus June temperatures, but this summer has been unusually cool (I’m still wearing sweaters to the office!) with highs close to 80 and cool fall-like evenings and mornings. I’ll take it! Thanks, Oklahoma!

One way to celebrate Summerween is to hone your jack-o-lantern carving skills for the fall by carving a jack-o-melon! I was inspired to turn a summer treat into a cute and spooky character thanks to the Gravity Falls “Summerween” episode.

Valloween Inspiration Share

Valloween is a new holiday created by Halloween lovers for other Halloween lovers who believe the Halloween spirit should exist 365 days a year! I hope you’ll celebrate Valloween with us! In today’s post, I’ll be sharing some of my fellow Samhain Society member’s Valloween ideas, inspirations, recipes and more so that you have PLENTY to do to make Valentines day creepy and weird, as it should be.  I am writing this post while jamming out to Spooky Little Halloween’s Creepy Love Song playlist which is AMAZING. She gets me and my music taste. If you need eerie playlists year-round, she’s your expert creepy music curator (Music inspires the heck out of me, just like Halloween! Spooky Little Halloween also blogs about music at the Good Groupie – check it out!).

Now let’s dive into some of the most magical Valloween things happening on the internet!

13 Days of Creepmas: Ginger-dead Cookies

Tis the season for sweet treats – and what’s sweeter than baking a warm, spicey ginger bread cookie with a sinister twist? Today, to celebrate Creepmas with you, I’m sharing a delicious and easy ginger-dead cookie recipe. What’s so fun about them is you can decorate as creepy as you like! My piping skills are very amateur (which you can tell by the photos), but the sloppiness gives them some character!

I also cut out different shapes to make an evil Santa Claus and spooky snowman. Keep reading for the recipe and some decorating inspiration:

Pumpkin Spice Pancakes

The final days of October are upon us – but this recipe is something you can whip up in the coming cool months as well for breakfast, brunch or even dinner (I love breakfast for dinner)!

My 2018 Monster Mash Bash!

Monster Mash Bash

This year’s Monster Mash Bash was a hit and a scary good time was had by all! I appreciated everyone’s compliments towards my creepy castle – some guests assumed it was just to liven up the party but I had to divulge, this creepy castle gets creeped out on Sept. 1 every year. The only way I know to enjoy Halloween decor and hoarding habits is to display it sooner and longer!

Keep reading to see some photos of my guests and their costumes and to get some inspiration for your upcoming or next Halloween shindig.

Creepy Crawly Spider Cookies

I’m getting excited for my Monster Mash Bash Halloween party happening on October 20! So much so, that I’m beginning to make ghoulish treats for all of my friends to enjoy. Nothing puts a smile on your face than some treats with a little spooky personality to them.

The only issue I run into is that working 40 hours a week can make you feel less than enthusiastic about whipping up something homemade.  That’s why I want to share this easy and quick and frightfully festive spider cookie recipe with you! It’s perfect to put together on a weeknight or when you’re running out of time to make something spooktacular to treat and delight your pals.

Simple Pumpkin Blended Coffee

blended pkin coffee

I am not a fan of the typical store bought pumpkin spice coffee – but I have created a pumpkin blended coffee that I do enjoy! At times, the “pumpkin spice” essence in coffee leaves a bit of a chemical after taste (to me at least) so I blend my coffee with real pumpkin, brown sugar and cinnamon for a sweet, creamy pumpkin treat.

I am terrible at providing accurate measurements for this recipe (it was an “eyeballing it’ creation), so please use it as an inspiration for creating your own unique blended pumpkin coffee and adjust to your liking! Read more below to see how I make mine:

Pumpkin Bread Recipe (Vegan!)

pumpkin bread recipe

I have made this recipe multiple times since my grandma shared this recipe with me around Thanksgiving last year. It is my favorite baked pumpkin treat (PS – it is also VEGAN!)! It’s so easy to make PLUS it makes two loaves which makes it perfect to bring to family gatherings in the fall or to the office (I’ve brought it to both!). I’ll also let you in on a secret – it makes a MEAN french toast! I made some last fall for my husband with some chopped pecans on top and he approved – which he is quite the food critic, so when he approves, I’m happy!
