Creepy Crawly Spider Cookies

I’m getting excited for my Monster Mash Bash Halloween party happening on October 20! So much so, that I’m beginning to make ghoulish treats for all of my friends to enjoy. Nothing puts a smile on your face than some treats with a little spooky personality to them.

The only issue I run into is that working 40 hours a week can make you feel less than enthusiastic about whipping up something homemade.  That’s why I want to share this easy and quick and frightfully festive spider cookie recipe with you! It’s perfect to put together on a weeknight or when you’re running out of time to make something spooktacular to treat and delight your pals.

Easy Halloween Card Display

This is my first time sending and receiving Halloween cards from the amazing ghouls in the online Halloween community. I have appreciated all of the kindness and support from everyone AND all of the spooktacular Halloween wishes! There’s nothing like ringing in October than sending off and receiving a bright orange envelopes in the mailbox! I wanted to display my greetings I’ve received – but I wanted to do so the impatient crafter way. This October has been very business with work events and family events already so I wanted to show them off quickly.

Happy October!!! I have always wanted my own cute front porch sign for Halloween! That is just what I did – and I do believe it came out just spiffy. Check out how I made mine to inspire your own festive front porch masterpiece. Continue reading “DIY Halloween Front Porch Sign”

Love at First Fright: A Halloween Themed Wedding Shower

My brother is getting hitched on October 6 and my mom and I threw a bridal shower for his bride-to-be and my future sister on Saturday, Sept. 22! Since I volunteered to host it at my house – it was a no brainer that the event would need to be Halloween themed. I already had my decor out, so I embraced the atmosphere and called it a “Love at First Fright” wedding shower.

I wanted to share some photos, ideas and games we played at this frightfully fun shower so that YOU can be inspired to host one for a friend or family member this fall! Continue reading “Love at First Fright: A Halloween Themed Wedding Shower”

Jack-o-Lanterns Throughout the Years

The first pumpkins my husband and I carved together when we were dating in 2011.

As we get nearer to October, I begin to contemplate what kind of pumpkin creation I will make. A good jack-o-lantern deserves much thought and precise execution – something that I lack when it comes to pumpkin carving. My husband on the other hand KILLS it at carving up a gourd. I attribute his successful carving and steady hand to the amount of patience he has (I am the most impatient person) along with his creative background (he is musician like myself, and a graphic artist).

This post is a bit of a an homage to all pumpkins past and future! I also hope you will find some inspiration for your jack-o-lantern this year by reading it.

DIY Vintage Halloween Cat Pail

DIY vintage cat pail

If you get tired of too many orange plastic pumpkin pails in your house or attic – don’t throw them out! Instead, breathe new life into them and make them into a creepy cat (one that is vintage inspired at that!). This idea didn’t just come to me – I actually stumbled on the idea years ago on Pinterest and have been meaning to give it a try myself.  I had to buy a pumpkin pail (believe it or not, I did not have an extra one laying around!) to create my cat pail. I snagged one for $1 (which is typically what they cost at the store) at the flea market weeks ago.  At one point, I did have lots of pumpkin head pails because I always pot mums in them and set them around the front porch this time of year, however I am a lazy gardener and housekeeper and they got busted and faded by the elements just chilling out in my backyard. I’ve learned my lesson from that – respect your pumpkin pails, and in return they’ll respect you and your creativity.

Haunt the Halls: A Bewitching Entry

bewitching entry 1 edit with social

I couldn’t help myself – I went ahead and added some bewitching touches to the entryway of my house. I wanted to share what it looks like if you’re looking for some decorating inspirations for your little entry as well.

Earlier this week I picked up a witch broom at the Dollar Tree. I was not sure what I would use it for initially when I bought it, but today I found the perfect use for them – I placed them in a little fall arrangement in the large vases I have on the floor next to my front door.

Desiccated Animal Skull Decor

animal skull decor

This might be a gross idea to some, but I think old animal skulls make interesting decoration pieces for Halloween. If you ever use an animal skull, be sure you properly clean the skull first to avoid bringing anything yucky into your house.

I absolutely love vintage Beistle Halloween decor and artwork and I love that you can order reproductions too!

This summer I ordered some die cut Beistle Halloween decorations from Amazon and have been pondering how I was going to incorporate them into my haunted house this fall.

DIY Mesh Dollar Tree Halloween Wreath

The Dollar Tree is full of spooktacular ideas and craft supplies around this time of year. I confess, I try to stop in once a week or once every couple weeks to see what is new in stores for Halloween around this time of year.

Last week, my local Dollar Tree had began to sell Halloween craft supplies and my first Dollar Tree Halloween haul contained everything I needed and more to create a new spooky Halloween wreath that I can haunt my halls with (I’ll be making another trip back there soon to make a second wreath for my Halloween-loving mom as well!)
