Spooks & Shoes: 7

Greetings spooky friends! It’s been a good while since I shared a “Spooks & Shoes” post!

This is partly because shoes are the last thing I need (last time I cleaned my shoe closet I counted over 75 pairs). Old habits die hard, because I recently treated myself to a new pair of kicks AND something spooky. So here we are again!

Creepy Baby Doll Head Candelabra

I have finally got to moving on my first Halloween craft project of the season! I wanted to do this last year but time escaped me and I couldn’t quite find exactly what I wanted at the time.

If you’re into the creepy baby doll theme, this DIY/craft inspiration is for you! I have been captivated by the creepy doll theme and wanted to take it to a whole new level by attaching doll heads to a candelabra to create a decorative art piece to haunt my home.

Halloween Shopping at Michaels

It gets real when Michaels has Halloween in stock. This year the online Halloween community has gone batty for the collections in store this year, namely the vintage inspired black ceramic Halloween tree and the blow mold style pumpkin man and cat. I too lost my gourd when I saw the pumpkin man table top accent floating around the internet and have been obsessively visiting my Michaels store to bring him home with me.

In my opinion, it feels like there is less Halloween products stocked than there has been in the past, but I absolutely adore the variety of vintage inspired decor because that is my personal favorite style!

I’ve taken a few snapshots of what Halloween hunters can expect at their local Michaels this season and for you to become fully immersed in the Halloween shopping experience if you’re still waiting on your store to bring Halloween to you.

A trip to the 2019 Texas Haunters Convention

This weekend has been SPOOKTACULAR. I made it out to the inaugural Texas Haunters Convention in Mesquite, TX.  I do not have much history related to convention attendance, so I’m never quite sure what to expect when I arrive at these events. It’s good to go into something with a sense of wonder instead of expecting too much or too little.

The convention is a cash and carry style two day Halloween convention geared towards haunt owners, industry professionals, home haunters, families, trick-or-treaters, and Halloween lovers (I fall into the latter category)! The event is open to the public with the purchase of a ticket.  There are also live demos, classes and make-and-takes sessions that are available to attendees for an additional fee.

I had so much fun seeing all of the AMAZING and talented crafters, creators, and haunters at this event.  The event had over 70 booths consisting of vendors, haunters, guests, and more.

What made this event even more enjoyable was spending it with my Halloween friends! I FINALLY got to meet my inspiration behind starting my very own blog, the queen of Halloween herself, and in my opinion a total internet Halloween celeb – Miranda, the ghoul behind Spooky Little Halloween!

Halloween Shopping at Tuesday Morning

The hunt for Halloween this summer continues – and as you might have noticed, your neighborhood Tuesday Morning store is just now filling its shelves with spooky delights! I love how each store that is providing Halloween fans with Halloween shopping in July all have their own “theme” or “aesthetic.”

The theme so far at Tuesday Morning is flashy, fanciful and fun! Plus, they have lots of little miniatures that would make any Halloween village display a frightful destination.

Keep on scrolling to see what I found in stock at my local Tuesday Morning last weekend!

Halloween Shopping at Old Time Pottery

One of my favorite stores to shop for Halloween at is Old Time Pottery!!! Unfortunately, this retailer is only found in 11 states and mostly in the mid-west region of the U.S. If you have one near you – now’s the time to check them out. What I love most about OTP, is their vast selection of home decor at incredibly affordable prices. That helps to make shopping for Halloween guilt-free!

The icing on top, is that they begin stocking the shelves with spook as soon as the Fourth of July is over! Retailers that cater to Halloween lovers in the summer months are the best kind of stores! Keep on scrolling if you’d like to virtually shop the shelves of my Tulsa, OK location.

Joann Fabric Halloween Sneak Peek

I’m starting to see more Halloween in home decor and craft stores – and it’s only the beginning of July! I am okay with an early Halloween shopping season…if we keep moving up Christmas shopping earlier each year, it’s only fair that Halloween gets the same treatment. Right!?

I decided to stop into my local Joann Fabric and Crafts store to see what spooky delights await for me…I’ve seen some images and videos floating around where folks have already spotted some home decor in store, but my location was still trying purge the last of their Christmas decor. They need to sell it faster to make room for Halloween!

I thought I’d treat you to some sneak peaks at some of the gorgeous, whimsical and vintage inspired Halloween fabric I did see in store already! I hope this photo dump will help your mind churn up some ideas on what you might create this fall!

Stranger Things Inspired Cupcakes

Get ready to have your world turned UPSIDE DOWN this week as we are treated with a third season of Stranger Things!

I cannot think of a better way to celebrate 4th of Boo-ly than by joining our favorite adolescents from Hawkins Indiana solve the mysteries that abound in their small, sleepy, and positively 80’s town.

In honor of season three,  I decided to create a sweet treat for the occasion and YOU can make these Stranger Things inspired cupcakes for your watch party or summer cookout (Eleven would approve).
